Past Neighbors Reaching Neighbors events
Our first community walk, bringing together the members of Grace and our Anderson Park community and called "Neighbors Reaching Neighbors", happened on Saturday, April 13th. The purpose of this event is to invite our neighbors to take the time to get to know each other better so that we can become a closer community of friends who look out and care for each other. Thank you to all who participated, and we pray that it will be the successful beginning of a new chapter in our community.
Our event was highlighted in the May / June issue of The Pittsburgh Lutheran and a Facebook contest sponsored by the Lutheran Church Extension Fund. Thanks to everyone who voted for the photo, we took second place!
Our second annual church and community picnic was Sunday, August 11, 2013 at Grace. Thank you to everyone who helped and attended. The event was a success, and we look forward to continuing to get to know our neighbors.
We also had a block party on Old Hickory on Saturday, October 5th, 2013 and went Christmas Caroling on Saturday, December 14, 2013. Thanks to our neighbors and church members, these events were a great success!
Sadly, while Christmas Caroling we needed to collect money for the Lockard Family. Their house on Old Hickory burned down in December; thankfully, no one was hurt, but they lost everything. A fund has been set up at S&T Bank to collect donations, and we will be holding fundraising events as well.
Our first fundraising event for the Lockard Family Fire Fund was a spaghetti dinner at Grace on Friday, February 21st. We served 100 meals to our neighbors and members of Grace and had a great time in doing so.
Our second community walk was Saturday, May 3, 2014. With Grace as our starting point, we walked through the neighborhood and distributed flyers to our neighbors. We were also able to pick up several bags of litter on the sides of the roads. Thank you to everyone who participated.
Our third annual church and community picnic was held Sunday, August 3, at Grace. The weather didn't look promising at first, but the skies cleared just in time to enjoy food, fellowship, games and crafts.
We went Christmas Caroling in the Anderson Park neighborhood on Saturday, December 13. Thank you to everyone who came and participated. It was cold, but dry, and the neighbors appreciated our efforts.
Our second annual Community Block Party was held on Saturday, October 4, in the 100 block of Cypress Hill Drive. The weather was variable, but the fun was constant.
Our fourth annual church and community picnic was held Sunday, August 2, at Grace. This year, there was no question about the weather or the fellowship that was shared.
Our third annual Community Block Party was held on Saturday, September 26, in the 100 block of Cypress Hill Drive. Thank you to everyone who planned it, helped at the event, and came to enjoy it.
Our fifth annual church and community picnic was held Sunday, August 2, at Grace. We were blessed with great weather, and a good time was had by all.
